The Vienna period has already begun in Munich. He is still ahead of the Viennese. Interest in going to the festival in a dirndl is apparently also increasing in Vienna.
Wiesn time means Dirndl time. But a beautiful dirndl costs money. If you want to find the often expensive pieces cheaper, you have some alternatives like second hand or rent them.
Dirndls are popular in Vienna during Oktoberfest in autumn
It’s that time again: Viennese pretzels. But a new, high quality, traditionally made dirndl is not cheap. A “blue dream” in Trostmann Trachten in downtown Vienna costs more than 1,000 euros. Young people tend not to be able to afford it.
The trend, especially among young people, is borrowing
The alternative to this is to rent the suit. According to Gexi Tostmann, managing director of Tostmann Trachten, this is particularly popular with young people. The resourceful businessman came up with the idea of renting dirndls and not just selling them 35 years ago. The idea behind it: Young people in particular should get a taste for it.
Dirndl and lederhosen for rent from 20 to 30 percent of the purchase price
Depending on the dirndl, 20 to 30 percent of the purchase price is required to rent for three days. According to a study of 300 singles by the singles platform Parship, slipping into lederhosen and going all out is what motivates 80 percent of young men to go to the party.
Humana Store offers second-hand suits in Vienna
Second-hand traditional costumes are also waiting for new owners in the store Humana. The best pieces are already gone before the Wiesn season. According to Humana employee Martina Porsch, people are more likely to wear old dirndls.
